Ms Ophelia Chan

Miss Ophelia Chan was awarded Bachelor of Arts in 1968, Master of Social Science ( Social work ) in 1996 at the University of Hong Kong. She also pursued Further Studies in  University of New Castle-Upon -Tyne , UK in 1974 and University of California, Berkeley , USA in 1988.

Miss Chan worked in the Social Welfare Department, HKSAR for 36 years. She worked in various fields during her tenure in the Government including elderly service, family and children, youth and community work, probation and correction services , social work training, district and regional management. She was Assistant Director for 8 years before her retirement  in 2006 responsible for policy planning and service delivery of rehabilitation service and medical social service.

She has had served in many committees of Government and NGOs.

She had been member of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee;  Community Care Fund Task Force; Council of AIDS Trust Fund ;  Hospital Governing Committee of the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital; Dental Council of the Department of Health; Convener of the Working Group on Promoting Sign Language Chairperson of the Human Organ Transplant Board.

She is still serving on Patients Advisory Committee and Corporate Communication Committee, Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospial Governing Committee of  the Hospital Authority.
