Mr Stephen SUI

GBS, JP

Mr Stephen SUI, GBS, JP, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Administration degree of the University of Hong Kong. He joined the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in 1978 and served in various bureaux and departments including the former Music Administrator’s Office, the former City and New Territories Administration, the Land Registry, the former Urban Services Department, the Civil Service Bureau and the Department of Justice. He was the Commissioner for Rehabilitation between February 2008 and July 2014, responsible for the overall co-ordination of the rehabilitation policies and initiatives for persons with disabilities. He became the Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare in August 2014. He was appointed as the Secretary for Labour and Welfare from February 13, 2017 and retired from Government service on July 1, 2017. He was appointed as Unofficial Justice of Peace and awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Government in recognition of his significant contributions to the well-being of persons with disabilities and outstanding and long public and community service. After retirement, he has been serving as committee members and advisers of various non-governmental organisations on a voluntary basis, many of them are serving persons with disabilities.
